Giovedì Grasso (Fat Thursday) is a traditional Catholic Christian feast celebrated the last Thursday before Lent and is associated with the celebration of Carnival. Because Lent is a time of fasting, the next opportunity to feast would not be until Easter. It is marked by wearing masks and costumes, eating special sweet treats, having parades with large floats where there is tossing of candies for the crowds to gather, having battles of throwing confetti, general fooling around, mumming, dancing, and merrymaking!!! The city of Fano, in Le Marche, is well known for four weeks of parades and Carnival celebrations! There’s plenty of fun for everyone !
